New Suncycle Studios

I've been contacted by a couple of readers over the past few days about the new Suncycle Studios that just kind of appeared out of the blue in the "mini-mall" on 71st/Continental, across from The Lite Choice ice cream store. This boutique fitness center/cycling studio has another location on Rockaway Beach. Here's some related photos one of the readers snapped:

And here's some more info I copied from their website about this new location:

  1. FINALLY, something different for the neighborhood. NYSC is such a dump I've seriously been considering giving up my gym membership. I'm actually pretty happy to see a spin studio open up in the neighborhood.

There's part of me that wonders 'why' a SoulCycle wouldn't open up in Forest Hills, but they too had to start somewhere.

We're Just glad we beat them to it! So far we have been overwhelmed with the positive attitude of the community. Everyone has been welcoming, and supportive. Hope to see you all soon taking a class.

    2. Have you been to NYSC lately? It's one of the cleanest gyms I've seen, and recently upgraded all its machines with top of the line equipment and exercise machines.

    4. I'm at NYSC several times a week and I couldn't agree less. They got rid of many of the better machines (they were older, but better) on the 2nd floor to make room for the 'poor mans' Cross-fit area (which should have been set-up on the 3rd floor IMO).

Since they changed the TV sets on the Treadmills on the first floor, all the treadmills shake, rattle and roll while you're running on them. They simply don't seem to be balanced correctly and I'm not the only person who feels that way. There are also no longer coat hooks which makes it just plain inconvenient if I'm just going to the gym for a quick run.

As for the cleanliness of that gym, it's a pit. I've been to several Equinox's in the city -- which have oodles of more members -- and there's no stench and never a shortage of towels.

I'd love nothing more for NYSC to be fabulous. It's simply not.

    5. I agree with Susan! Both Rego and Forest Hills NYSC are horrible! It's pretty bad that you have to bring your own tools to make the machines work!! And if you want to do a spin class good luck! You best book days in advance!! I've been to this new studio! It's small and private! The instructors are awesome and I've enjoyed my classes there! The people that work there are sweet and aware! I'm going back!

    6. I noticed when it comes to NYSC its best to complain to corporate rather then the in house manager. Corporate usually will step in to rectify situations like filth etc

    7. Ok...you guys are way too critical. I never had any problem with the new machines especially on the first floor. And you drop your coat on the floor - even on top of a towel -oh....no....the end of the world. Please. NYSC is cheap, has good hours, and gets the job done.

  4. Looks like banter is going to open today. Theyre putting the sign up and all the paper is off the windows and the place looks done

  5. Stopped by today to check out Suncycle. Great conversation with the owner, who is very experienced and well versed in the "spin" space. Like everything he had to say, and there are many different plans that make it extremely affordable. Great addition to the neighborhood!

  6. Why can't I find prices on their site, except for teachers and students?

  7. The queens chronicle has you can either get one class free or $25 for unlimited week! I'm sure just like everywhere else you've gotta go in and get the pricing!

  8. No, everywhere else lists on their site how much their product or service costs. :-)
