Well, there are exhaust fumes pretty much everywhere in New York City. If that's a concern to you, you might want to move to Duluth or somewhere where there's less people. People will snatch up apartments in this building, 1: Because it's going to be a beautiful new condo in a prime location in New York City with mass transit right at your doorstep and the increasingly improving Forest Hills shopping and dining right across the street, and 2: It is smartly being set back far enough from Queens Blvd. that residents won't be bothered by anything to do with it.
It's amazing how quickly these buildings are constructed. It's taken me longer to finish my 20 page scrapbook from a trip I took two years ago, haha. Seriously, what's up with the building next to the temple. They were working at a pretty face pace, then suddenly, it stopped. I pass by it every day and it doesn't seem that much has changed over the past few months.
Construction tends to come and go here. A lot of construction has been suspended. Medical building on Austin street suspended construction awhile ago. Obamacare was likely the root cause of this since it was an LIJ Facility.
Now the construction next to the temple, likely a stop work order was issued or they ran into money or worker issues.
Subway station construction will be extended past Janurary.
Agreed. How does Obamacare factor into getting construction completed? I can't understand some of these comments. You might as well say Obamacare is causing a delay new updates to this site.
Hmm, not sure how i feel about the color. Kinda reminds me of some of the "modern" buildings constructed in the 70's to look "modern" (Thinking of the one in Rego Park (The Contour) that was painted white and converted into rentals....oh, and The Pinnacle with its green interior...yuck, but end up looking dated a decade or two later.
It really is a nightmare living on 71st Road with all the traffic that the construction is causing. Constant honking from 7AM-7PM everyday, 7 days a week. Contacted Cord Meyer about putting a flag person there to help with the traffic flow, but after initially putting one there (they did nothing but check their phone all day), they removed them and refused to put them. Contacted Hevesi's office and 311 and they cant do anything. Cord Meyer sucks.
We live on the busy intersection of 71st and Continental and had bus/traffic issues from the day we moved. I mean, we knew what we were getting when we chose to live there, but it took some time to deal with the noise pollution. My wife and I use a small fan in the bedroom and leave it on low all night. It's maybe a few pennies a night to run but it made a world of a difference with the noise outside. Maybe it'll work for you too.
Thanks for the suggestion but i've had my loud A/C blasting in the summer and it doesn't make a big enough difference. I use ear plugs but today was really, really bad.
I also agree about the honking. I live on 71st road and during the day, it's very loud. Also, while unrelated, I'm also fed up with car alarms going off. I've never seen anyone respond to it. I've also seen drivers intentionally let it go off. It just pisses me off to the nth degree.
Elderly woman hit by a Q64 bus as it was making the turn from 108th to Queens Blvd today. Serious but not life threatening injuries. Surprisingly, they took her to Bellevue (why not Forest Hills Hospital)?
Does anyone know when units will hit the market?
ReplyDeleteThe target date of completion is June 2014. Assuming no delays, I would guess they would start selling in April or May?
DeleteDeveloper is Cord Meyer and the prices were initially listed as $600K to $700K, though I'm not sure for how big of an apartment.
Any word on that other new development behind ciao bello across from the post office?
DeleteMmm, and it comes with free bus fumes!

Is it The Austin or Aston? Confused in FoHi.
ReplyDeleteThe Aston, otherwise I'd be calling it The Austin. What's behind your confusion? Did you see it called The Austin somewhere?

How does Obamacare factor into construction???? Save your baseless comments for FOX "news".

DeleteDidn't you know that Obamacare is the root of all evil?
Deleteany idea when they're going to get rid of the barrier that closes off the lane on QB and causes so many traffic jams?
ReplyDeleteI like the blue color better than the original yellow color.
