As I slowly recuperate from the "cold from hell," I invite you all to talk amongst yourselves about whatever is on your minds (except the high rents landlords are charging local businesses on Austin St., overpriced slices of cake and new condos you don't find attractive enough to spend $600,000 on.) Otherwise, the floor is all yours until I can manage to sleep more than half an hour at a time without being awoken by another round of coughing.
Oh, and enjoy the snow! Or, if you have to drive or wait for the bus during it, hate the snow! I feel your pain!
By the way, word is that a storm forecast for this weekend may be a Biggie, but of course it's still too soon to know for sure.

You caught the cold because of the man sitting in the White House. Blame him. And blame the high rents on Austin Street while you are at it. Don't stop there . The high priced cupcakes at Silk Cakes may be an underlying cause. Go take a nap now that I riled you up! Feel better!!!
ReplyDeleteUpon visiting the Austin Street Barnes & Noble after quite a while, I noticed that almost half of the second floor is now devoted to children's toys etc. When did this happen? I realize bookstores are slowly dying, but is this going to save them?
ReplyDeleteFeel better Drake! Plenty of rest and fluids.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy Drake! I was sick all last week! Have you been to the Dr? May be an upper respiratory infection. If you don't have a doctor, I suggest Dr. Waiho Lum on 75th Ave behind the Pinnacle - he's great!
ReplyDeleteRe: Barnes & Noble Toy Department. I remembered reading an article in the WSJ about this a few years back, and I was able to pinpoint it online if you're interested in reading it - http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052748704756804575608733870097728
ReplyDeleteBasically, these stores are going to need to evolve, or they'll become extinct. Do I think that educational toys are going to save B&N? Probably not, but this article was written 3+ years ago and our local store just expanded this section within the past year, so I'd assume it's having some positive impact.
My guess is more changes will come.
Take it easy, Drake! I hope the coughing starts to wind down soon.
ReplyDeleteTake care Drake! I was sick for almost a whole month. I blame this crazy Alaskan weather.
ReplyDeleteAll this snow is only fueling my laziness. I've been using it as an excuse to get out of EVERYTHING: hanging out with friends, visiting my mom, going grocery shopping. I'm one of those people who always says they hate summer b/c of all the heat and humidity, but at least when it's hot out I GET STUFF DONE. :)
ReplyDeleteDrake, if your non-stop coughing is from post nasal drip, I suggest you try using either a netipot or a saline nasal spray.
