Here's a twist for Austin St. - a new barber shop, for a change, instead of another hair salon! And it looks kinda cute too! It's kind of giving off that old-time barber shop-feel, isn't it? Looks interesting...
It will be located between 72nd Ave. and 72nd Road on Austin Street, I believe where the italian ices place used to be, next to the new Rove restaurant.

My husband popped in for a shave over the weekend. Said the vibe was great and friendly brothers running the place. And a great shave for a great price to boot!
ReplyDeleteI hope they eventually get a real awning.
ReplyDeleteMeh... I'm glad people on here like it and all so don't take this the wrong way but it just seems like a dull addition to the street. There is definitely NO shortage of places one could get their hair cut around Austin. I think another reader counted around a good dozen alone on a walk down Austin.
ReplyDeleteSergey's on Ascan Ave has been giving off "that old-time barber shop-feel" for over a decade. Not sure what this place offers that he doesn't.
ReplyDeleteAgreed
DeleteYes, very true. I don't personally go to Sergeys but it looks cute, right by Nicks and even has the old school barber shop pole. Not sure why this new place is scoring one for the guys! What's with this town and bad business models? Do they not see the place is saturated with places to get hair cut??
Deleteyou're able to eat fancy overpriced icecream while complaining there are no book stores anymore while getting manscaped.
ReplyDeleteHonestly the three or four barbers I've gone to in Forest Hills (Sergeys, above Bareburger and in the Austin st mall area) have given bad haircuts. It's a simple cut too, and it's come out uneven, strands of hair sticking out, etc. Excited to give this one a shot so I don't have to go in the city for +$30 a pop
ReplyDeleteHahaha... "$30 a pop". Don't break the bank there handsome.
DeleteBeen going to Dominick's for about 23 years. Give them a try.
ReplyDeleteI did. Bad haircut, don't see what all the fuss is about.
