Queens Stands Together Rally Photos

Not a bad turnout for the first of these here in Forest Hills, yesterday. But not fantastic, either, given the magnitude of what is at stake. As I walked home from the rally, and passed various residents going about their day, I couldn't help but want to grab them and say: "Get your ass to MacDonald Park! Do you realize your entire way of life is at stake!?"

  1. I had no idea this was going on! I definitely would've been there if I knew!

  2. Speakers were very inspiring! I hope the resistance continues and accomplishes something positive.
Next rally is at Borough Hall on Sunday, March 5th, at 4pm

  3. And what exactly would change if those people you passed went to McDonald Park, instead of going on with their day?

Its a genuine question. I hate Trump and want him gone, but is there a plan of action at these events? Legit curious, as i know many people who went to the post election day protests and the womens march who couldnt give me a good answer. Most were along the lines of "i feel like im doing something" and it provided more psychological benefit than anything else.

    1. Maybe you think this is a normal period of American history, it is not. We are at a pivotal moment where the fascists will wipe away many of our freedoms if we do not take to the streets and intimidate them into realizing they will not be able to do it without a fight.

    2. I'm not saying any of this is normal. He's a lunatic. I'm asking what standing outside in a park is going to do to stop him? Are there actual plans and next steps discussed?

    3. The demonstrations are part of the next steps, or strategy, going forward. It is all part of a whole. They pressure the Congress to not let the fascists get away with slowly eroding away our democracy. The only way to defeat the constant threat of fascism in this republic is through the law. And the only way the law can be applied to stop them - as it already, successfully has in some ways - is by pressuring the Congress and making it clear that their jobs are at risk if they do not do stand up to the fascists. Large crowds of people willing to march and rally sends a message that we will not just roll over and let them get away with what they want to do without a fight. We are willing to stand up to them. That's why a small rally is disappointing.
