Local Pizza Competition Continues to Heat Up

The absolutely superb new Italian restaurant on Restaurant Row, Numero 28, recently started delivering. And this was followed by the news that Lillian, the much-loved pizzeria in the Gardens area, is under new management and now delivers -- depending on how much you order -- to much of the central Forest Hills area. This, of course, is excellent news for the thousands of Forest Hills residents -- like myself -- that would never think of owning a car in NYC, so getting down to Lillian, or Trader Joe's, or anything south of Austin Street, for that matter, is a rare occasion.

  1. Did the owners of Lillian's sell? They owned it for so long.

    1. No. Family member is took over. It was time for them to retire after many years, many fires and many Ray Romano photos.

  2. I heard that the nephew of the old owners is now running Lillian's, but not sure if they actually sold it to the nephew. I'm happy as long as they don't make any changes to their tomato and garlic pie!

    1. Changes have already been implemented and I have to imagine there will be menu revision and some items will be added. You can already taste the difference in some of the baked pasta dishes but delivery is a welcomed change that is long overdue.

  3. Don't think he's not going to make changes. He already started delivery service. He will probably remodel eventually. Speaking with him a few times sounds like he wants to increase revenue as much as possible.
