Forest Hills Trader Joe's Opens Next Tuesday

The wait is finally almost over... The Forest Hills store will be the third in Queens, after Rego Park on Metropolitan, and Long Island City. The store will be 17,000 square feet in size.

On Tuesday, November 7th, Trader Joe’s will open a new Forest Hills, New York store. The new store is located at 69-65 Yellowstone Blvd. Moments before doors open at 8 am, there will be a brief ceremonial ribbon cutting. Store Captain Carlos Salazar and Trader Joe’s Crew Members will be on hand to welcome customers to their new neighborhood store.

This 17,000 sq. ft. store is located between Queens Blvd. and Yellowstone Blvd. a block away from Austin St. Its interior artwork will highlight the rich comic book history of the neighborhood.

As a neighborhood grocery store, Trader Joe’s prides itself on hiring where its stores are located. Hiring efforts are still underway. Anyone interested in applying can visit traderjoes.com/careers for more information.

In addition, through the company’s longstanding Neighborhood Shares Program, the new Forest Hills Trader Joe’s will donate 100% of products that go unsold but remain fit to enjoy to a range of non-profit, community-based organizations, seven days a week.

  1. It’s progress, but we really need a Whole Foods.

  2. What a great addition to our neighborhood, which has seen continuous improvement in food and restaurant options over the last 10-15 years.
The location is also great, as this TJ’s will be only a couple of blocks from the 71st/Continental subway station. So not only will FH residents be able to walk to this store, it will attract many people who don’t own a car from many of the surrounding areas, like Rego Park, Kew Gardens and Jackson Heights.
As for Whole Foods, that may still happen in the future, especially if the TJs gets a lot of walk-in business (which I think it will) and the scouts for Whole Foods locations take notice.

  3. Is parking available? If not, it will be a waste for residents of Queens who don't live in Forest Hills.

    1. People who have cars can just drive to the Trader Joe's on Metropolitan Ave which has a parking lot.

  4. I guess you missed the part of my comment when I said that this new TJs will be only a couple of blocks from the 71st/Continental subway station (the E, F, R and M trains). So the new TJs will be easily accessible by subway for Queens residents who live near any of these subway lines in other Queens neighborhoods (like Kew Gardens, Rego Park, Jackson Heights and Astoria).

    1. Of course, both elevators and escalators are available. What do you think they let you walk on stairs only with heavy loads of groceries on hands?

  6. Was there this morning and was impressed with how spacious it is. It appears to be the entire lower level space of the building. Glad TJ's now a part of FH!
