Prince Tea House Coming to Forest Hills

New restaurant coming to Station Square soon.  Sounds very fanciful!

Update: Prince Tea House is a chain of Asian-inspired cafes with a wide-ranging menu of food, light snacks, and of course tea. The chain has other locations in Flushing, Astoria, the East Village, Brooklyn, and soon to come, Philadelphia.

The Forest Hills location is coming to 15 Station Square, where I think there was a cleaners before? But let me know at edgeofthecity@gmail.com or in the comments below.

New York Magazine Gives Some Love To Forest Hills

One thing that hasn’t changed about the neighborhood is that it boasts a feature common enough in London or Savannah but still a New York rarity: a genuine square.

Jade Restaurant Plans to Reopen Soon

Jade Eatery and Lounge in Station Square is planning to reopen in a few weeks, once the construction in Station Square is finished. I saw this news online and was also contacted by one of the blog's readers, Shawn Ball, who said he spoke with Jade's owner today and confirmed it.
The news about Jade is interesting because I've heard both that they were planning on closing for good, and also that they were planning to reopen.
In any case, if they do indeed reopen in a few weeks it's good news. Jade is one of the better pan-Asian restaurants in Forest Hills and is in one of the nicest settings in the neighborhood as well.

A reader sent this in to the blog's Facebook page. She says all are welcome at the opening reception this coming Friday, but the show itself will be up for a month at Jade Eatery & Lounge in Station Square.

The Latest on the Forest Hills Inn

Michael Perlman writes about the maneuverings by different parties wishing to bring new development to the Forest Hills Inn at Station Square: Controversy brewing at Forest Hills Inn

Boy, wouldn't it be beautiful to have public use of the Tea Garden again? It just sits there dilapidated. What a waste.

Indie Coffee Shop Location

If — and it is still a big "if" since absolutely nothing has been confirmed yet — we do get a new indie coffee shop, this is the location in Station Square they are thinking of. It is on Greenway Terrace.

Coming Soon: New Indie Coffee Shop?

This is not a done deal, but I wanted to share with everyone some potentially very exciting news for Forest Hills. I've been contacted by a reader who says an independent coffee house may be opening as early as this spring in Station Square. The place could even potentially have outdoor seating. If this does come to fruition, I think it has the potential to be one of the best developments for our neighborhood since La Boulangerie opened its doors a couple of years ago. Stay tuned over the coming weeks for more details!

In the meantime, the proprietor says he is most interested in any feedback from local residents. He wants to know how interested people would be in the idea and any other suggestions you all may have. The floor is open... What do you all think about getting our very own indie coffee place to curl up with a nice hot cup of joe, or spend some time hanging out with friends?

More Pics of Zero Hour TV Shoot

A reader sent me these late today. In case you missed my earlier posts, this was for a new ABC show called Zero Hour. They filmed in Station Square yesterday, transforming the Jade restaurant and surroundings into early 20th Century Germany.
