Film About Murder of Kitty Genovese Filming in Forest Hills Tonight
I'm told the movie being filmed on Austin Street tonight is an independent film about the murder of Kitty Genovese, the landmark case that happened in Kew Gardens the night of March 13, 1964. The crime was made famous by news reports that some 38 people heard Kitty's cries for help, but did nothing, information that has since been shown to be erroneous and based on sensationalistic coverage created by a New York Times editor at the time. In actuality, according to the most recent information, several residents of Kew Gardens came to Kitty's help when hearing her screams.
I've heard this movie's title is "37 Witnesses," but I haven't been able to confirm that. The only confirmed information I have is what I've written above.
Here are some pics from tonight's shoot on Austin:

Filming in The Gardens Tonight
Thanks to Patrick for sending in this cool shot of some filming in The Gardens tonight on Greenway North just east of Ascan. He says it looked like a large production. There was a large food truck and several trailers along the greenway. All I heard is that Elementary was filming around there this week, and also maybe Blue Bloods? Anyone know anything else?

Tea Garden Mystery Solved!
A reader cleared up the mysterious renovation going on at the historic Tea Garden, in back of the Forest Hills Inn. I'm told it is for a movie shoot there starting Tuesday about legendary film director Stanley Kubrick. They have transformed the Tea Garden into Oktoberfest in 1957 Munich, Germany for the shoot. Here are some photos. I'm working on getting the name of the movie, but so far no luck. If anyone knows, please let me know (Kubrick was/is one of my favorite all-time directors, so I'm quite excited about this!)

Budding Local Filmmakers
A reader sent in a link to this short film shot by two young residents of Forest Hills. As she explains:
"This video was made by two 13 year olds who are big fans of Assassins Creed and who have spent all their lives in Forest Hills. It's their turf, main terrain, home field. Anyway, Forest Hills never looked so dangerous!"
So grab your popcorn, sit back, and enjoy. Personally, I think we may have found our next Steven Spielberg and J.J. Abrams: Epic Assassin's Creed Journey

Blue Bloods in Forest Hills
Ah, so that's why he's always here...
“We have a house that we use in Forest Hills for Donnie Wahlberg’s character,” he says. “In Bay Ridge, we shoot mainly on Narrows Avenue and Shore Road. There are also great views from the 69th St. pier. Throw on a long lens and you’ve got this amazing view of New York City.”

Local Filming...
Not sure if they will still be there Friday. It seems like they film this show a lot in Forest Hills.
Harold & Kumar 3 Trailer
It seems like just yesterday they were filming some of this movie here in Forest Hills, near Ascan if I recall.... Well, here's the trailer. Just one viewing makes it pretty obvious that it will take its place among the most refined classics of our era. I'm thinking Merchant Ivory caliber (you know, A Room With A View, Howards End, The Remains of the Day, and so on...)

From the blog Onlocationvacations.com:
The Sitter, starring Jonah Hill, is filming (reshoots) around Forest Park Dr and Woodhaven Blvd in Queens on Monday and Tuesday night.
So if you didn't have enough of the heat today, maybe you want to take a walk over there? :)
