A popular Manhattan-based pizzeria chain will soon serve up classic Neapolitan-style pizza on Forest Hills’ restaurant row next month.

Awesome! Will definitely check it out. I like the association with the West Village and Park Slope. Forest Hills is getting cooler, slowly but surely...
ReplyDeleteWe already have Nick's, which imho is the best pizza around, but...okay. Could be worse. I'll take it.
ReplyDeleteThis is great news. I worked near one of their locations (that eventually spun off to a different owner/name) on 57th and Lex for years. This is very legit pizza. It says Neapolitan style, but this is really much closer to Roman. Thicker crust than NY-slice or Neapolitan style, not at all soggy or soupy. You'll see the Roman style stand out the most with the 29 inch oblong pizzas. Very fresh ingredients. Imagine almost focaccia-like crust with ... cherry tomatoes, fresh arugula, shredded parmesan. That kind of pizza.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of ALL pizza, from the best Neapolitan in the city (Keste? lol) to frozen Elio's. This type of pizza is nothing like NY-slice style at Gloria's or NY-brick style at Nick's and there is plenty of room for all of them here!
Your description just made me incredibly hungry. :)
DeleteUgh. More pizza? How I would love to see a genuine Southern BBQ place! (QueensBully just doesn't do it right).
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I imagine a REAL Southern BBQ spot needing a bigger space than this.
DeleteAgree, not excited for another pizza place. Queens Bully's food is just meoh.
ReplyDeleteThis is great news — I like Nicks pizza but not the environment (too bright - feels like a grab and go). This place will be great for a date (no kids runnin around) — high quality food and good wine. Looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteI guess it's good news, definitely better than yet another empty place around here, but I do agree with a couple other people on here that we need a totally fresh cuisine on the block. I'd really like to see a nice French place, or have Boulangerie relocate to a larger space and continue to expand their delicious offerings (the line out the door on a nice weekend and no place to sit has made only go there at off hours).
ReplyDeleteA French place in FoHi would ROCK MY WORLD. Does anyone else remember the one that used to be where Aged is now? I can't think of its name, but it was amazing and I miss it.
DeleteRouge. It was a great shame it left.
DeleteYes, thank you! Wonderful place.
DeleteYes please we need a French place!!! duck confit anyone? Also agree not every place should be targeting families, sometimes adults just want to relax and converse over a glass wine
DeleteThose interior shots look great! And there are definitely worse things that could go into that space. Next month, you say? That's pretty soon!
