Blockbuster No More

This probably comes as no surprise to anyone with a Netflix account. Blockbuster is closing its store on 70th Road in Forest Hills.. and they're having a big sale as they do, too. And this means another prime storefront will soon be available on "restaurant row." Do you hear that Shake Shack?

  1. you figured all the older people of FH supported the old way of renting movies.

  2. Wonder if they're going to do something with the Verizon building next door. You figure with a Verizon plant in Forest Hills, there would be FiOS available in the area. Ridiculous!

  3. That Verizon building will always be there. I'm 25 and my grandmother worked there before my parents were in HS (when it was Bell Atlantic, yes I remember Bell Atlantic). It would be nice if FH got FIOS.

  4. Bell Atlantic, that's not long ago. Try New York Telephone pre ATT break-up.

Hopefully we get more quality restaurants.

  5. Verizon Building will not always be there. But it will take years for them to even build out FIOS for this community.

Verizon has plans to sell the Central Office space in the future.

  6. Blockbuster being dismantled today. The sign is no more. Perhaps the new tenant will display a sign soon.
