The Website for Marianella's Taqueria, the new Mexican restaurant opening on 71st/Continental Ave. next to McDonald's (exact address is 106-11 71st Avenue) is now live.

Here is the link to the site, which includes its menu:

While I am happy when any new business (except cell phone stores or nail salons) opens on the Austin St./Continental Ave. promenade, based on their menu, "The Next Level in Casual Mexican Fusion" seems a bit grandiose.

  2. I'm trying to reserve judgment until they open and I have a chance to sample the menu. I'm fine with the 'basics', if they're along the (quality) lines of say the Dos Toros Taqueria by Union Square (lines out the door the food is so good).

  4. Anyone remember Green Cactus on restaurant row or whatever it was called? Tremendous fish tacos and burritos there.

  5. I dream about Green Cactus, are you kidding? I was putting on the pounds thanks to that place. Awesome. I wrote them after they closed and begged them to come back some day. And they did write back and said they did hope to one day return but the rent for them was just too damn high!

  6. Not the easiest place to get to, but looks like an interesting Mexican Canteen opening in Astoria - http://newyork.grubstreet.com/2011/02/pachanga.html Love that they're sourcing their food locally.

  7. I hope it's a good addition. Although, red pepper hummus at a Mexican place?

  9. I went there yesterday around noon to my surprised it was already pumped up as if it were a friday night! The music was nice a bit to loud but nice and the ambiance fantastic! I was greeted and acknowledged by who I am assuming was the manager. The staff was friendly and attentive as well. Something I enjoy because I operate a restaurant as well. The food was ok, the service was alot better than expected the bartender then threw away my trash...nice!
