Dunkin' Donuts Returns!

That's right, after our sad experience with Dunkin's evil Twin (Twin Donut, that is), Dunkin' is staging a comeback in Forest Hills. My top-notch roving reporter just snapped these pics tonight of signs in the former Twin Donut location on 71st/Continental. Dunkin' Donuts hasn't been in central Forest Hills ever since closing its former location on Austin St., near where The Body Shop is today, several years ago.

  2. Better than an empty store, but we have DD on Yellowstone and Metropolitan. Will be nice to have it near the subway, I guess.

  3. For us carless, those might as well be in Saskatchewan.

  4. Interesting phenomenon here in FH. Dunkin' Donuts will join Brownies n' Cream, La Boulangerie, Old Vienna Cafe and Emily's Sugar Rush in a trend of snack and sweet stores/cafes opening. Meanwhile, the Organic Market closes.

  5. drakester, what about the block of key food. whats going up there? I keep hearing a CVS monstro mart, yet there are for rent signs in all the stores. what gives?

  6. The newspaper/magazine shop suddenly closed up yesterday as well...no warning at all...

  7. I haven't heard anything different about the Key Food block.... the last I heard it might be a CVS but they were still open to other retailers as well. As for the newspaper/magazine store closing, with the other stores on the row all having moved out over the past few months there was kind of a warning, no?

  8. Oh, and just to reply to the other comment, Dunkin' Donut these days has a lot more than just sweets - bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and of course my favorite - their coffee.

  9. More like a warning sign. The dry cleaners and other shops all had signs for a few weeks.

  10. Yes, but that was because they had long-time customers who regularly dropped their cleaning off with them or had their prescriptions filled. So those folks had to make other plans for these services. This was a newstand. What kind of warning was really needed?

  11. Passed by just now and it looks like they are completely gutting it out, so I'm sure it will be a few weeks before its done.
