1. Tuscan Hills
2. Nick's*
3. Portofino
4. Lillian
5. A J's
*I have to note one thing, though. If I was going by pepperoni pizza, I would have to put Nick's first. They have amazing pepperoni pizza, right up there with the best I have ever eaten, anywhere. But, I have not tried the pepperoni at the others on the list, so can't speak for those.
Oh, and I am eagerly awaiting the opening of Gloria's Pizza next to Midway. Such a loyal following! Can't wait to try it.
One other thing I just realized. Tuscan Hills is kind of new, having opened just a few years ago, and many of you may not yet know about it. While all of their food is simply phenomenal, I swear to you I am not exaggerating when I say I almost cry when I bite into their pizza. It is simply one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten, anywhere. I don't know how they do it. You know those books of lists of things to do before you die? If you know you are going to die (come to think of it, I do, just don't know when), you really must have a pie from Tuscan Hills before you do. Does that make sense?
I couldn't agree with you more re: Tuscan Hill's Pizza!!!! I've been raving about it ever since Roberto opened 2 summers ago. It's absolutely fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWith that said, once Gloria's opens I'll definitely be in line for my slice! Until then, Tuscan Hills is my sole pizza stop right now in Forest Hills.
AJ's sucks. Porto Fino and Family blows it away
ReplyDeletewhat I want to know is HOW DID YOU DETERMINE THIS LIST? DID YOU DO A POLL IF YOU DIDN"T i suggest you do, that way WE can tell you what WE THINK becuase you're wrong!
ReplyDeleteStop yelling or I'll delete you forever.
ReplyDeleteIf only the obnoxious anonymous poster bothered to read the very first line where Drake says "Here are my top five", he'd realize it was an opinion of the blog owner. Douchebag can't even spell 'becuase'. lol
ReplyDeleteObviously, pizza is a sensitive subject with some people. You know I never had the pizza at Tuscan Hills, because their entrees are so good, I never got around to the pizza. Lillian's is an underrated pizza. It's high on my list. And Nick's is just indisputably one of the best.
ReplyDeleteTuscan Hills is so nicely run. Marco is a great host!
ReplyDeleteLillian's pizzas have more oil than Saudi Arabia!
ReplyDeleteIs Nicks pizza the place that charges extra for a small cup of grated cheese? If so, they should be ashamed of themselves to try and nickel and dime customers for a condiment that is complimentary in all other pizzeria's!
ReplyDeleteI am curious about Tuscan Hill's pizza though, is it very thin? Do they use homemade mozzarella? I would like to give it a try based on the above great reviews but want to know what makes it so good?
It is pretty thin, yes. Don't know if the cheese is homemade, but the cheese tastes so great I would not be surprised. Let me know if you find out when you try it!
ReplyDeleteI just discovered that Tuscan Hills is expanding into the space next door to them, a positive sign that things are going well for them. So glad!
ReplyDeleteYes, I saw that space was available and then heard they were going to expand into it. Great news, thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteArianna's is delicious
ReplyDeleteI was really not impressed by Lillian's...I had read a ton about how good it was but it was oily and didn't have a lot of flavor. AJs is just an average slice. You eat there because you don't want to walk any further.
ReplyDeleteI would much prefer a pizza from Dee's or a slice from Arianna's.
Nick's used to get their cheese from a Pork Store in Corona, but I believe that store closed down now.
ReplyDeleteDoes Tuscan Hills have large pies (18 inches) like AJ's or are they smaller than regular size?
ReplyDeleteTuscan Hills pizzas are more of a personal size. I for one love them but I do not think the mozzarella cheese is fresh or "home made".
ReplyDeleteI don't mind whether Tuscan is home made or not. I wanted to have one of their pies delivered for my spouse and I to try and then have the rest for leftovers. But since it's not the large size, I'll have to think of something else for now.
ReplyDeleteHad portofinos the other night and it was some of the worst pizza I have ever had. Maybe it was because it was late at night but was not impressed at all. Find arianna's to be very good for delivery, anyone feel the same? Anyone in love with the Chinese tex mex place?
ReplyDeleteArianna's food is too dry. You order an entree, especially if pasta, and there is no olive oil on it to be found. Too dry! Make sure if you order for home delivery you have some olive oil to pour over your food.
ReplyDeleteI've lived in FH for almost 30 years and there is not one good slice of pizza in the neighborhood anymore. The places that have delicious pizza all sell it by the pie.
ReplyDeleteJust tried the pizza at Tuscan Hills...not that impressed.
ReplyDeleteUgh! Tried Tuscan tonight specifically due to this blog. Very disappointed. Very blah imo and way oversalted.
ReplyDeleteStill love the blog. The food recommendations not so much
Ugh! indeed! Nothing worse than those disappointing Blog pizza recommendations, I agree! Ugh! Don't hold it against me. Have you eaten anything else at Tuscan Hills that you liked? I've had several other things there and all have been delizioso!
ReplyDeleteI have not tried anything else there. Liked the ambience quite a bit, though.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, all of the pizzerias in forrest hills are horrible. I also looked into that place Gloria's next to the midway and after looking at all the great things that people said on Facebook i think we're finally going to have the quality pies that we have been waiting for.
ReplyDeleteHow could nobody mention Dee's on Metropolitan?
ReplyDeleteI agree with bwrg. Dee's is da bomb.
