With the recent opening of the "718" hookah lounge/ grill & bar, it seems we now have a really thriving bar scene going on along Austin St. between 72nd Ave. and 72nd Road.
Last I counted there are 4 bars on that one block now: Five Burros, Tap House, Bonfire Grill and 718.
I still haven't been to 718, but I've walked by it and it appears to definitely have the bar vibe going on, with a
"Lady's Night" sign in the window and some patrons overflowing onto the sidewalk. Has anyone been there yet?

Great...just what we need, more bars in a family friendly neighborhood. I have spotted 3 - 4 pools of vomit this week along Austin Street. The most enormous one was discovered this morning by the stationery store [next to AJ's Pizza]. The bar closest to the vomit should be slapped with a fine if it is not cleaned up.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree...bars are not really the greatest thing for the neighborhood if we want to keep it clean, quiet and safe.
DeleteI don't see why bars would not allow a neighborhood to continue to be clean, quiet and safe. My friends and I have been going to bars our entire lives and I don't consider us dirty, noisy nor dangerous.
DeleteOh, and regarding the vomit comment. I've already given out an award for most racist comment. I award you "Most Stomach-Turning." Congratulations!! And keep your nose to the ground, or sidewalk. I'd like weekly reports from your vomit patrol.
DeleteAnyone try this bar? Sounds interesting.

I haven't been, but that does seem interesting. But what I'd love is a beer garden.
DeleteCobblestone's has been going downhill a bit IMO. With the exception of Bonfire, those other bars are just too rowdy for me. Maybe this is a sure sign that I'm getting old, but I would like a quiet bar to open up. Somewhere where the husband and I could kick back after work, have a drink, and maybe have a conversation.
ReplyDeleteThe new wine and beer bar soon to open on Ascan, near Austin, sounds like it will be for you. It will be across from Nick's Pizza.
Deletetry the network cafe. You can definitely kick back. The selection of wine is fantastic.
