Homefront Closing

I've gotten a couple of emails about this and have been meaning to post something about it. Such a shame to see this charming little shop closing. It would be nice to see them re-open on Metropolitan Ave. where rents are cheaper and where smaller, independent stores seem to be doing well. By the way, along those lines, I was in Kew Gardens over the weekend. I don't know, but I think things are going to start happening in that 'hood. I think it's going to become a very "in" little NYC neighborhood.

  1. I live in Kew Gardens and I agree! we also have some new fancy buildings being built with high rents that are actually filling up.

  2. Homefront was such a weird store. They sold furniture and fudge. Then once Sugar Rush opened, they expanded their candy selection. I never understood their concept. I wonder what replaces them. The other storefronts on that stretch of Austin have been empty for years.

  3. This makes me sad, it is such a pretty little store - I always wished I could have afforded to buy a nice piece of furniture and support them. I wish them luck and hope they open up another location soon.

  5. Drake. You are falling down on the Job. No post about Vanilla Sky yet opening where Europan was. More Yogurt and a coffee ship you will be in heaven.

    2. Only busting your chops because you seem to be on top of everything. A HUGE banner has been hanging on the window for 3 days and I did not see you blog about it.

    3. Thanks for letting me know about it. I have been sick all week so didn't get a chance to go out and see it for myself. But a reader did send in the pic today, and it's up there... :)

  6. We definitely do not need another fro yo shop here. What a waste.

    1. I would think that depends. if their Fro Yo is extraordinarily delicious and a life-changing experience I would say keep it!

  7. I remember going to Homefront and redecorating my apartment - thanks to the assistance of the women there.
They were very helpful. I spent $4500 there over a 2 month period. One petite woman knew her merchandise so well, she helped me buy pillows, and a some misc. items...such a sweet woman.
