El Coyote Opens

I know a lot of readers have been very eager to know when our newest Mexican restaurant was opening. Opening day was yesterday so you don't have to wait any longer! El Coyote is located in the upper level of the "Austin St. Mall" complex, where Garcia's used to be. And look, they even have a nice indoor palm tree...

  4. Honestly, it looks better than Garcia's ever did -- well, based on that photo, anyway. At any rate I hope the food is good. Thanks for the info!

  7. Don't like the signage. Should have invested more into something attractive and eye-catching .

  11. Ate there. Got the Salad with Avocado and Sweet Plantains and Chicken with Rice. Food is very good, much better than Garcias was. Liked the flavor. Wasn't that crowded and got a table easily.

I don't know how it could stay in business though. It isn't getting large crowds.

  12. Is it a chain or just a second location of an existing restaurant?

    1. Fourth location, they have two in Connecticut in addition to Jackson Heights.

  13. It's not the best location. The building itself is an eyesore and a big turnoff. I tend to look away when walking down that block and never look up. They need to put up more street level signs . Wish them the best.

  14. I went on Friday evening with my fiance to check it out. We sat right away on the patio (there was a 30 minute wait for an inside table) but it was still pretty nice out. No drink menus yet so you're supposed to guess what you may want from the bar. Our server was HORRIBLE. We didn't get water for 20 minutes, we didn't get chips for ANOTHER 20 minutes - and our food never showed up. We sat for over an hour before I finally had to get up and say something. The manager was very apologetic and offered to cover our whole meal, which was appreciated. However we STILL never got out appetizer (which was just queso dip) and we STILL had to wait another 30 minutes for our food. Overall though, the food was delicious. I just wish I wasn't practically famished by the time it arrived.
