Shake Shack to Open at Queens Center Mall

They're getting closer! Yes, Shake Shack will be opening at the Queens Center Mall. Not optimal, but I'll take it! Joy! They've already had locations in Queens, but at irritatingly beyond-Queens focused spots, like Kennedy Airport and Citi Field. This one's just for us, kinda. Whatevs. It's awesome.

  2. Shake Shack should design a truck and set up on Continental Av or Queens Blvd. that would be awesome. Perhaps Shake Shack already has a truck they use for special events.

  5. Who wants to go to Queens Center Mall for a shake burger? Only the desperate and demented.

  6. That would explain why the food court recently McDonalds closed.

    1. According to amNewYork: "The new shack is currently under construction on the first floor of the mall, where an Urban Outfitters previously stood, and will reportedly be open in 2016." So it won't be in the food court, which makes sense. The lines would block all the other vendors there.

    2. McDonalds knew that it wouldn't be worth renewing their lease if SS was coming to the mall. Even if it was located on a different floor.

  7. Why does it need to be on a truck. There are plenty of empty stores

  8. They wouldn't dare pay the outrageous rent around Austin Street.

  9. I just heard one is coming to Forest Hills in the old Strawberry location, anyone know if this is a rumor? Seems like a bad spot and now I'm thinking that they confused it with this new

    1. Beth, What is your source for this info? I don't think it's a bad spot at all, actually. A two-story building that is highly visible.... would be very exciting if true.

    2. I was hoping that spot would be taken by a Blink/Planet Fitness-type gym (I had the same hope for the old Staples spot, or even for the kiosk-sized Starbucks to take it, but we all know how THAT turned out…).
