I was wondering whether the building owners are gradually trying to get rid of everybody so they can start on an Ashton Redux.

DeleteIf you were referring to the Aston (new condo building on Queens Boulevard) and rumors that there may be another new condo building planned for restaurant row, those are just rumors at the moment. I haven't seen anything written in any local news sources about a new building being built on restaurant row. So I think it's way too soon to start talking about an "Aston Redux".
I had a shrimp dish there when they first opened. The shrimp were bad and I returned them. I ordered something else but they took it off the check. We never did go back .
ReplyDeleteThis would be the second time in 2+ years it has been closed by the Health Dept. For the same violations. No one wants to see empty "store fronts" on this street but perhaps it's time the MOCA people shut down because they are not able to maintain a clean vermin free establishment.

ReplyDeletePity it happened to a restaurant where I've always had a decent, tasty meal. Why couldn't it happened to a mediocre place like Aged where the steak tastes like rubber? No loss if they got hit with a violation!

ReplyDeleteWhy does everyone dog Aged? I think it is great. The service is always a bit odd, but good food. Had a fig martini once that was awesome.
ReplyDeleteAged is horrible -- the brunch is bad, the steaks are bad...if you want a good steak in the neighborhood -- goto The Grill (Ribeye) or Tazzina (I think they have a strip) or Danny Browns.
DeleteHmmm, I haven't had brunch there in a while, but last couple of times I did I really liked it. Never had a problem with their steaks either come to think of it.
DeleteI find it ridiculous that most (if not all) the positive reviews for Aged are based on its brunch, as if cheap mimosas and scrambled eggs define this self-proclaimed steakhouse. I spent over $100 at Aged (twice) for dinner - a tough, nearly inedible steak and tasteless lobster tails. Never again.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, we went to using a Groupon (or LivingSocial) deal. We got a huge salad and app and took most of the steak home for sandwiches, omelettes and other yummy dishes. Still, the few bites we had in the eatery were tasty. Aged: Bring back that deal!
