A reader sent in these pics. I've peeked inside myself and the space looks really nice, with a really cool upstairs seating area and what looks like seating that runs along the right side downstairs as well.
They had stated a while back that they were shooting for Memorial Day. They anticipate serving 1,500-2,000 customers daily and as many as 2,500-3,000 on weekend days. That's probably when the weather is nice.
If you've been to any of the Shake Shack locations in Manhattan, those numbers would probably not seem so high. Shake Shacks in Manhattan are known for having long lines both outside and inside at many times during the day. Since the Austin Street Shake Shack will be the first Queens location that is in a neighborhood, I would think it's going to attract a lot of people from not only Forest Hills, but from many surrounding neighborhoods. And since Forest Hills is a subway hub with 4 subway lines, people from other parts of Queens can easily get to the FH Shake Shack by subway.
How much seating will there be?
ReplyDeleteGot the "scoop" - they are trying to open on May 25th! Gave me a free coupon for ice cream for stopping by and saying hi!

DeleteI can't see them serving 3,000 customers per day. But I guess its possible during the grand opening weeks. It will then drop off a bit.
ReplyDeleteThe McDonald's on 71Av serves 1,200 customers per day.
ReplyDeleteRumor has it they are opening on 5/25. Can anyone confirm?
