  3. Target has turned out to be a very big disappointment for several reasons. For starters no one asked for a Target in this neighborhood in the first place. It is clear to see on the shelves it stocks that 99.9% of all the products being sold at Target can be purchased at Rite Aid, Duane Reade, the Gap, Key Food, Natural Market, C-Town, Michaels, Verizon and other stores with in walking distance in Forest Hills.
The food selection is just as bad as Key Foods except for the marginal selection of Organic products which could be bought at the grocery story towards 71 ave 'The Natural Market'. In addition there is a Verizon store and a Rite Aid on the second floor. Why? Are these the corporations that funded this project? And if so why? Is this yet another form of Market Cannibalism? So what does Target offer that other stores don't have? Answer-House hold things like picture frames, table lamps and candle holders. That's about it.
Unless Target transforms into a Home Goods store, I can't imagine this place will be here much longer than a few years. Boycott Target.

    1. I haven't been inside yet, but I have to say, I'm surprised they bothered to devote space to a grocery section. I kind of assumed they wouldn't, since we already have so many local markets.

  4. Went yesterday. I was underwhelmed. Initially I didn't think having a Target in Forest Hills would be all that bad, but having been there now it just seems kind of pointless. It's a mystery to me how businesses decide to move into a neighborhood. I'd be surprised if this location is profitable for Target.

  5. Better than all the homeless people, perverts looking to hit on girls, old people with nothing better to do, and losers bringing their kids for unpaid babysitting time which occupied the Barnes and Nobles...

  6. Please don't knock homeless people. There but for the grace of God, etc.

Besides, I don't believe I ever even saw any of them at the FoHi B&N, so I don't know what you're basing that on.

    1. I did, and there are places in the city to help people -- better than hanging out at McDonalds Park or B&N... I also refuse to give money on the train to anyone...! Because that enforces the behavior.

The point is, I hardly saw anyone buying anything. They treated it like a library...

Forest Hills needs places like Target -- if you're business is not differentiated enough to compete with Amazon or Target, well then - goodbye. We don't just need 'independent' businesses; we need good and differentiated businesses. Maybe some of these clothing stores can close down and we can get some better, adult food, restaurants -- if I see another f---in burger, pizza or ice cream on a menu... uggggh!
