Hills Barber Shop

Remember that cute, little new barber shop that recently opened on Austin? Well, they've put up their new sign, rounding out their clean, modernistic take on an old-time barber shop look. I think it looks fantastic and is a nice, upscale addition to Austin St.

  1. Thank goodness they didn't go for an oversized awning! Nice.

  3. The new T-Swirl crepe place also looks nice and their crepes are pretty good too.

  4. Wow, Drake, you are really mailing it in on this blog. Another barber post? How 'bout something on End of the Century closing, or the former Balucci's spot supposedly becoming a craft beer spot? That's ok; I'll wait for the next crappy cell phone pic post on trees or lightning strikes in the hood. LOLZZZZ. Go Hillary!

    1. Oh my, what an interesting post @7:19. I appreciate all that Drake does and really do love this blog. I can at the same time relate a bit to that commenter as I don't care much for the random neighborhood pic posts - they just seem like filler. I found out about End of the Century from dnainfo.com; I didn't hear about the craft beer place at Balucci's - not sure if FH is ready for that yet. Anyways, I'm sure Drake has a full time job and is just doing this in his spare time so I am glad for what it is. 7:19 commenter- Try posting your new info for us in the unfiltered section; I personally check there often and would love more of an exchange of info going on there. I get what you mean about the Hills Barber Shop post too - we have enough hair places including a couple traditional barbers so big deal about this place; if it makes you feel any better- look how few comments the barber shop post got; it's just not a novel addition to the area.

    2. I think this criticism of Drake is unjustified. I think Drake does a great job with this blog in covering many important events and issues happening in and around Forest Hills. If you don't like the topics that Drake is covering here, you are always free to start your own blog.

  5. I saw on the news that someone is painting a tribute mural of Rodney Dangerfield's face somewhere in Kew Gardens. Anyone know what street this is happening on?

    3. Apparently it was a sonic boom produced by low-flying military planes:
