Tamashii Red Getting Ready to Open

Many Forest Hillers have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the specialty ramen restaurant Tamshii Red on Austin St. This will be its third Queens restaurant, with others in Long Island City and Astoria. Here's a peek inside, thanks to one of my Twitter followers.

  2. Thanks for posting the operating hours! I'm a pretty late eater and I always forget to ask!

  3. One of the special restaurant openings that IMO is worth looking forward to. Hopefully the business hours taped on with scotch tape is temporary, or else a bit of a let down

  4. Already opened. The soup could have been a little hotter, temperature wise (I'm Asian. I like my soups scalding hot) but it was delicious. No Tonkotsu ramen but I don't think they had that in their other locations so wasn't expecting it. Much better than when Xin Taste was a ramen shop.

  5. Dined for lunch today at Tamashii. Arrived at noon. By 12:30 the whole place was full and there was a 10-15 min await. It was definitely buzzing with people also coming in for take out as well. The inside is nice with dark modern wood. I wad attended to right away and food came out in a timely way. I ordered pork buns and also Chasyu Ramen. Both were above average and on par with some I've had in Mahattan. I would definitely give it a 4 out of 5 stars. I hope this review helps anyine wishing to visit Tamashii. It's definitely a go!

  6. Busy should not mean bad service but that's what happened. Waitress had to be flagged down and never checked in once. The waitress literally dropped off the bowl at the table and walked away immediately, like putting down a bowl of dog food. No eye contact. I don't think the staff was Japanese entirely, if at all. Good food in and of itself is not enough in keeping customers coming back.
