Walking around Forest Hills these days it really is striking how much new construction is going on, especially along the main shopping drag of Austin St. The latest I've noticed is the corner where Europan used to be has been encased in plywood as they near completion of the frozen yogurt/cafe Vanilla Sky:
Another yogurt cafe?? Come on. How original.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awful movie to name anything after ;)
ReplyDeleteAs boring a plain vanilla ice cream.
ReplyDeleteAlways late to the scene. First, they open a bakery after Martha's had been open for a while, established, and wildly popular. They closed that and now open a yogurt bar down the block from super-chain Red Mango. Who's making theses idiotic decisions? If they are going to challenge established brands, shouldn't they beat them to the punch? Will they scratch this idea too and open a Burrito joint?
ReplyDeleteWhy couldn't the French bakery open up another outpost here, with cafe, instead of another bland yogurt place? I give it three months.
ReplyDeleteIt will end up being a yogurt and panini place, guaranteed...
ReplyDeleteAnother yogurt shop??! Ridiculous!
ReplyDeletei personally think that red mango is overrated, and if there is a different variety in flavors... why not have an extra place to stop by in the summer? I believe we shouldn't be quick to judge, just because the area has seen many pour decisions. Besides the Vanilla Sky in Astoria seems to be a very nice place to go too, so I think we can possibly hope for the same or maybe an even better turnout in Forest Hills.
