Everything's Coming Up Roses?

For the past few months the little shop on Austin, down near Ascan, bearing the name "Sister Unn's" has revealed little about what this store will actually be, remaining all papered over except for the black awning with its name in white letters. But suddenly, the Sister Unn's website has a bit more information. At least I think it does..

The website suggests that this will be a store that sells....roses!

Here is what it says: "We are pleased again to welcome you to Sister Unn's website. Sister Unn's is a store located in Forest Hills, NY and we hope that you will visit us soon. There is so much to do and so much to say and we haven't the most time as winter is on its way. May you ask what Sister Unn's sells? Why we have roses! So many flowers for you to see. In all of Sister Unns favorite colors. We have Faith Lavender Roses, Blue Bird Lavender Roses, Ocean Song, Vendela Ivory, Ecuadorian White Roses, as well as a small sample of Gordon Cole's Blue Rose. Sister Unn's thanks you for your visit and hopes that you will return again."

Quite quirky, mysterious and even befuddling, if I do say so myself. The tone kind of reminds me of the temptress in those old black and white films who holds out her hand and welcomes you into her haunted mansion on the hill as the lightning storm illuminates the dark night... And the look of the website kind of matches that thought perfectly, check it out for yourselves: http://www.sister-unns.com/

This is a very bizarre way to build word of mouth for a business.

  3. Bizarre! We'll see if it works or it'll be pushing up daisies instead.

  4. I appreciate the thought that went into this...it's clever! I would love a high end flower shop. I treat myself to flowers every week and it would be nice to have another option besides the natural. Their flowers die on me pretty quickly.

  5. 100% agree with sarah. Flowers from the natural die the very next day if not the same day. Can't wait for this store to open for I am a flower addict. Happy to know what kind of store is opening.

  6. I saw two people walking out of Sister Unn's last night and I asked them what type of shop they were opening. They responded unenthusiastically that it will be an art gallery. So perhaps an art gallery that also sells fresh flowers?!

  7. Thanks for letting us know... The website looks so incomplete and the wording is so strange that I was indeed starting to think the text on it was randomly-generated, like on spam messages. So that would make sense if it is not a flower shop like it says but an art gallery as these guys told you. Now, as to why they are so unenthusiastic about their new place, that is a whole other mystery. Maybe a blase attitude just comes with the job description of being an art gallery owner?
