This has been confirmed for the former OTB location:

And the same commenter yesterday on this blog said a 7-Eleven was going into that space as well.

  1. Not as exciting as a new wine bar or cutting edge restaurant, but i'll take it! Certainly an improvement! Keep 'em coming!

  2. Both correct, however 7-11 not a done deal.

  3. I also saw there is renovation already going on in the wigs place near Europan. Is the leather goods store next to Europan also on its way out? Seems eager to sell out their inventory...

  4. The one good thing with this is that Red Mango has significant capital to fix up the structure which has been neglected for so long and was in unused decay.

Also I am sure Lane Towers residents are happy since they now have rented out a previously vacant space although it is unclear what the contract terms were.

  5. I wish they would open a gay bar in the area, too. It would be nice to have a gay bar in FH. The former Mandees location would be great.

Although I have fondness in my heart for 7-Eleven Slurpees as a kid growing up in the suburbs, I'm not as happy about their arrival in the City.

That being said, this would be a great location for a 7-Eleven although there is a 7-Eleven a few blocks away on Queens Blvd towards Rego Park.

  7. Yeah, not too fond of 7 Eleven. Wish it was a Chipotle!

  8. IMO I dont think a 7 eleven will add anything to the neighborhood and I wont be so happy to see that.

I also would have been happier if we had to have a frozen dessert chain place that it would have been a Cold Stone or Carvel but oh well ya cant please all the people all the time.

I do love that new places are coming in though...keep em comin!

  9. There was a Cold Stone Creamery on Austin St. but it closed a few years ago. It was busy when it first opened and then died down.
