.... as DNAInfo.com reports:
Luxury Art Deco Condo Rises in Forest Hills
The units will cost between $600,000 and $750,000..."A new luxury condo complex under construction in Forest Hills will feature Art Deco architecture, green construction and a rooftop garden for residents, its architect said."
Oh I cant wait! I live right next to the construction site and looking forward to sprucing up real estate prices. Hoping to jump the 2 bedroom at 650k bandwagon. that's cheaper than the Windsor 1. Though something tells me the "nice" ones will be much higher in price
ReplyDeleteAs long as that CVS gets built I'll be happy.
ReplyDeleteWhile I understand the need for new housing stock, and I realize that CVS's are more profitable than smaller mom and pop stores, the problem I have is that the new building will add to congestion. We have condos being built in multiple locations in town yet not 1 older building here is being demolished.
ReplyDeleteGreat...parking isn't hard enough...next to those ugly mc mansions. This town is getting uglier and uglier...
ReplyDeleteWho says there won't be parking in the building for its residents or that they will all have cars, anyway.
ReplyDeleteGood grief. It looks like one of those "Astoria Ugly" high rises or Williamsburg-style "hip" condos that are popping up everywhere. Why is it that every new condo looks like a robot or a greenhouse designed for corporate drones?
ReplyDeleteMaybe cause it's 2013 and technology has enabled us to create apartment buildings with floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall windows. Ugh, who want's luxury like that? I'd much prefer old bricks that decay after years and require smaller windows to ensure a good sound structure.

Thank goodness it is not a Karl Fischer building-it at least has a minor chance of being structuraly sound.
ReplyDeleteTriumph of the cities!
ReplyDeleteYuk!
ReplyDeleteWish I could afford one!
ReplyDeleteWe don't need another CM monstrosity that adds congestion.
ReplyDeleteSHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN APPROVED.
I haven't lived in Forest Hills yet (moving in next week!), but on the one had, I guess the growth is good. On the other hand, I wish there was some sort of ordinance that required buildings to blend into the overall landscape. It looks pretty enough, but it just doesn't seem to blend into the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteBring on the luxury! I am happy my co-op a few blocks away will be increasing in value.
ReplyDeleteToo bad area developers don't have a sense for aesthetic reference or are unable or uninterested in hiring an architect who does. One could easily design a great building in historical context to the Gardens, or even a Modern/Post-Modern one with more character than this. God help us, if developers get a hold of the Stadium, and tear it down to replace it with a hotel or ugly condo.
ReplyDeleteThis building is a monstrosity that should never have bee granted permission to be built,
ReplyDeleteNo parking garage because it is too close to the subway, it is unsafe the way they are doing tings, and GOD FORBID that crane comes down across Queens Blvd or on another building.
