Daily News Story on Forest Hills

I've been getting a lot of emails and comments regarding the Daily News story about our neighborhood:
Forest Hills is going from suburban to chic with trendy new restaurants and bars
New additions to the central Queens neighborhood include wine bar Keuka Kafe on Queens Blvd. and craft beer bar Forest Hills Station House and burger joint Twisted and Smash’d on Austin St.

I have my ideas about how the article came about (which I will keep to myself), but that's not really important. I think it's wonderful publicity for our neighborhood and pretty much accurate, though, as several of you have pointed out, incomplete. For example, it leaves out Banter, which is probably the best new all-around restaurant to open in central Forest Hills. And the incredible excitement being generated by the revival of music concerts at our Stadium.

But, hey, who's complaining? I'll take the long-overdue positive coverage of our nabe by the mainstream media.

  1. Did the article mention all the crazy old people that pay 300 rent?

    1. I didn't know that you become crazy with age. I don't know, but I'd say that if you were paying 300 rent you would be saying that those paying 5x that amount were the crazy ones.

  2. The article doesn't mention Jack & Nellie's either which is also in that wine bar category. Serves delicious small plates as well. It is one of my favorite restaurants in FH.

  5. About 6-7 years ago, someone posted on one of these FoHi blogs that your neighborhood can't be cool if you have both Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft. So this might just be the year.

  6. I'm glad Forest Hills is finally getting some recognition. I've lived here for 10 years and like the fact that I can stay local on a Friday or Saturday night. A couple of years ago, I was getting a bit concerned that the only types of establishments opening up in Forest Hills were banks and cellphone stores. More restaurants! More shopping! A Fairway or a Whole Foods would also be great!
