OvoSodo's Sign

  1. Wasn't this supposed to be a pizzeria??? I agree with the lack of creativity on the signage.

    1. ... and you can agree with yourself, but that's kinda pathetic.

  2. Glad we will have a new breakfast option!! I hope their scrambled eggs are not watery. Hate that.

  3. Strikes me as a diner with an Italian twist.

  4. Confused by the branding. Wasn't this supposed to be a brick oven pizzaria? This looks like a coffee shop or diner.

    1. Pizza and a variety of other foods.

.... And who wants to make it 3?

  5. Come to think of it, we can use a good diner.

  6. Tuscan Hills told us last night that they are scheduled to open this Tuesday.

  7. I hope the food is better than the sign.

    1. You're complaining about an awning on Queens Blvd.? Really? Because Queens Blvd. is so gorgeous? Please.

  8. Lose the graffiti please. Actually isn't there a new law that requires a new business to install see-through roll down security gates? I believe it went into effect in 2012 .

  9. When will store owners along QB ever become creative when it comes to hanging a sign on their premises? It's one of the most important and basic part of running a business. It appears that there must be only one cheap sign manufacturer in Queens , and all of the businesses are using them.

  10. When will the Forest Hills residents stop bitching about every little thing and actually give a place a chance? Would you rather a pharmacy sign that blinks? Or maybe 'Nails 4 U?".

You can go to Pizzeria Uno with their old fashiony sign and great menu font.

  11. To me the sign is fine, but I'd never think its a pizzeria in there, rather a coffee shop?

  12. The problem is that people like Drake, as it appears in his reply above, settle for mediocracy. Anyone that has taken a marketing course knows that to attract a consumer, you need to have an appealing image and brand. This picture is not appealing. If a store can't put together a decent sign, why should a consumer expect the end product to be good? And furthermore, why should Queens Boulevard have expectations that are lower than more upscale areas?

    1. It's not the full storefront, just the awning. You should give a business a chance to open first before you criticize them. You are being very unfair.

    2. I believe the word you want is "mediocrity", not "mediocracy". Anyone that has taken a high school English course knows that....:-) (Petty criticism doesn't feel good, does it?)

  13. They have to serve other food. Can't make it in pizza alone unless you are in the heart of Times Square.

  14. The gate law change was passed in 2009. It required that all new gates installed after sometime in 2011 had to have 70% visibility. As to any already-existing gates, they do not have to be replaced until 2026. So, if the gate on this place isn't relatively new, it can stay there another 12 years.

  15. No. If the business changes hands, then the gates must be replaced.

  16. I passed by today. The awning does look very cheap. As a matter of fact , there used to be a small coffee shop near 67 Av that had a very similar looking awning, coffee cup and all.

  17. There is no requirement that if a business changes hands, the gates must be replaced.

  19. Why is it that so many signs have to be a laundry list of their offerings? Can't people read the menu posted by the entrance for themselves? This sign is too busy and looks more like an oversized bodega

  20. They should have invested more money in a better looking sign! It just screams " mediocrity". It almost matches one of the awnings a few doors down. A nice hand made sign, without a sidewalk canopy would have been better.
