New Japanese Restaurant Opening

A new Japanese restaurant named Bamboo Ya will be opening June 11th on Austin Street.  It will occupy the space of the recently closed The Old Siam Thai restaurant, located opposite Gerard Towers.  The owners allowed me inside for a sneak peek:

  2. There is a restaurant with that same name in Rego Park. Or "was"? Did the owners mention this other restaurant? I'm wondering if they're moving from Rego Park or opening a second location.

  4. They're on Queens Blvd down toward 63rd. The restaurant there looks almost exactly the same! I think they cloned it!

  9. This location seems to be jinxed and nothing lasts there. I hope the curse is finally broken with the new addition.

  10. I just ate there. The food and service are high quality. Many types of cozy seating to choose from. Imaginative drink menu to choose from.

  11. I totally agree. My new sushi fix. Much more innovative than Sushi Time. They put Moca to shame. The servings are to the point fresh, simple and all about the food. From the apps ceviche Scallop/ Fried Salmon skins OMG--- to the freshness of the seafood not to mention the other main courses. Everything on the extensive menu is prepared with care ( read no robo food)and don't get me started on the desserts Fried ice cream / Mochi to die fore. Everyone is missing out if they try to walk a little GMAB and try them.
