A reader sent in this photo of what will be going into the space formerly occupied by Liang's chinese restaurant on Restaurant Row (70th Road). I am thoroughly intrigued and am hoping this is a place that serves up tasty platters of falafel and kabobs, but we will see. "Mediterranean" and "Grill" can mean a lot of different things...
Please don't make this another stinky hookah place!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting and imaginative name! The Grill. Almost as bland as Aged.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
DeleteUh oh I hope this is not going to RUN by the same people as Aged!
ReplyDeleteThe architect has done other work in the area and his name doesn't give me a fuzzy feeling.
ReplyDeleteWe need more Korean food!
ReplyDeleteWalked past this spot on Tuesday, every place was busy but Moca - look for that to close next.
ReplyDeleteGerard J. Caliendo is essentially the architect who works on the Forest Hills area.

His architectural style is what you see a lot in Queens proper.
His apartment designs look like Karl Fischer's work. Yuck.
DeleteI'm sure he's featured alot on the Queens Crap website. This is what's wrong with Queens. People don't have any taste. You don't see tacky places opening in Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Astoria or LIC. But you get an assembly line of them opening up here in Forest Hills (hello Flying Pig).
DeleteMaybe but you see a lot of these ugly new developments in Williamsburg and Greenpoint.
DeleteIt is a small restaurant, and Gerard J. Caliendo really isn't doing all too much in the renovations.
ReplyDeleteThe restaurant previously did look quite drab inside compared to other restaurants in the area.
The new restaurant should be of a nicer design. Can't comment on how the mediterranean food will be but the restaurants in this area are generally not that great.
