Officials gathered at the Forest Hills Stadium today to announce that the venue is the new summer home of The New York Pops. Those in attendance included Steven Reineke, The New York Pops Music Director; Anne M. Swanson, Executive Director of NY Pops; Roland Meier, President of the West Side Tennis Club and Deborah Dillingham, Queens Representative for NYC Department of Education.

It's an excellent venue for Pops events and I think this was a really good idea.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see they are playing this venue but I don't understand the phrase "new summer home". Aren't they playing two dates in early August only? How is that any different than any other performer playing the venue a couple of nights? Maybe I'm missing something.
ReplyDeleteThe NY Pops has been looking for a permanent home for outdoor summer concerts. This summer they are starting with two dates. The plan to have 3 dates each summer on an annual basis; and maybe more if there is demand for it.
